The Auditorium of Barcelona is a concert hall that offers a very exciting programme.  The building, designed by architect Rafael Moneo, is also the headquarters of the Higher School of Music of Catalonia and the Museum of Music. However, the Auditorium doesn’t only host organise classical music concerts. For years now, the Auditorium has been the venue for dozens of concerts given by international stars of pop, rock, and jazz.

The programme for October and November 2012 promises to be even fuller and more attractive than ever before. What better way to enjoy the concert of a great international musician than in a comfortable auditorium with unbeatable acoustics?

Take a look at the Auditorium’s programme for the next couple of months. If you don’t know which concert to attend from all the performances scheduled, let us recommend our top four favourites.

Best performances

  • Dead can Dance (22 October) Australian band offering something between medieval music and ethnic rhythms. Seeing them live in an excellent venue like this is a unique experience that will take you back to the Middle Ages. Highly recommended.
  • Van Dyke Parks (14 November) Performing as part of the Barcelona Jazz Festival, this much-loved composer returns to Barcelona two years after his last visit. Van Dyke Parks is a virtuoso pianist with one of the most beautiful repertoire of American popular music.
  • The OBC (Barcelona Symphony Orchestra) and Marion Cotillard (17 and 18 November) One of the most unusual events ever to be organised in the city. The Oscar-winning French actress will play Joan of Arc in the oratorio Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher.
  • Diana Krall (24 November) With over 15 million albums sold worldwide, Krall is one of the most reputable jazz pianists and singers around. She’ll be performing her latest album, Glad Rag Doll.
